Who is Micro needling suitable for?
SkinPen® Precision is a safe and effective collagen and elastin boosting treatment that is suitable for all skin tones and types, year-round, helping to impart a fresher appearance and achieve rejuvenated skin from the inside out.
🔵SkinPen Precision is the next generation Micro-Needling device, which is the device used in NR Aesthetics & Skin clinic.
How Does SkinPen® Precision work?
The SkinPen® Precision device works by creating millions of controlled temporary microscopic channels in the skin. These microchannels stimulating the body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodelling of scar tissue (facial acne scar & surgical scars) and the improvement of the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and enlarged pores. SkinPen Precision is also found helpful in improving the cosmetic appearance of pigmentation conditions (Dyschromia).
What is the process that happens within the skin?
The three phases to the wound-repair process:
- Phase 1 – Inflammation: The wound healing response begins with the inflammatory phase; controlled micro-injuries to the skin triggers the immune system to cleanse, stabilize and repair and increase blood flow
- Phase 2 – Tissue proliferation: This phase sees the initial regeneration of new cells and the regeneration of new blood vessels.
- Phase 3 – Remodelling: During this phase the collagen and elastin mature and becomes stronger and the skin’s integrity is increased.
Are all Micro needling devices the same?
No, not all micro needling devices are the same. There are different types of micro needling devices, each with their own unique features and benefits.
For example, some micro needling devices use needles that are shorter and finer than others, while others use needles that are longer and thicker. Some devices are designed for home use and are less powerful than those used by professionals, while others are specifically designed for use in a clinical setting.
Additionally, there are different types of micro needling techniques, such as mechanical or electronic needling, derma-rollers, pens, and stamps. Each technique and device has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the results can vary depending on the individual’s skin type, condition, and goals.

Can I go to a beautician for treatment with a micro needling device?
You can go to who you would like to but, the difference is to ensure your safety and to protect your skin from further damage a medical aesthetic practitioner or dermatologist has undergone rigorous training in such devices.
Furthermore, a medical practitioner will ensure that a medical consultation is undertake to ensure you are suitable to be treated, as not everyone is suitable. But going to a medical professional will ensure you get the right treatment and the right results.
Finally for certain conditions a certain depth of needling is required, which only a medical professional is covered to treat.
What happens during a treatment?
A topical local anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated and time allowed for this to take effect. Then the area is cleansed with an antiseptic solution. The area will then be treated with a gel to glide the device over the skin, whilst the skin is being held taught. The areas are treated at different depths according to individual response & requirements.
Is there any downtime?
I always say to allow 24-48 hours , everyone responds differently but you will look quite red initially and sunburned for the first 24 hours. Some people will peel slightly at some point at about 5- 7 days but again this varies from person to person.
What do I do after the treatment?
It is important to keep your skin well hydrated after the SkinPen procedure.
Microneedling causes a temporary increase in water loss so keeping your skin hydrated and protected during this period will aide your recovery experience.
After the treatment you will be given a pack top take home as the skin will be very thirsty whilst it goes through the different phases of healing & regeneration. You advised not tom touch the skin and to wash hands thoroughly before applying any cream that is supplied in your pack.
- A clean pillowcase is required.
Do not use any other products, including cleanser, on your skin within the first
24 hours post-procedure. Unexpected complications may occur when products
not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post-procedure. In lieu of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool water as needed.
- If you have RESCUE Calming Complex, begin applying as needed after the first 24 hours to help soothe and calm the skin. RESCUE was specifically formulated for post-microneedling.
- Strictly avoid sun exposure the day of the procedure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. C
- ontinue to minimize sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 72 hours post-procedure, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin.
- Avoid using any active skincare topical products, such as retinoids, vitamin C etc., for the first week after the SkinPen Precision procedure to reduce risk of irritation.
